SHOUTcast with unlimited listeners?

We’ve been in the SHOUTcast hosting game for a *long* time. Since April 2004 infact, and we’re now one of the largest and fastest growing stream hosts for radio around, with thousands of stations using our products and services. Recently – we’ve seen numerous websites that claim to offer ‘unlimited’ listener slots – the purpose of this blog post is to expose these scams and hopefully prevent people from being ripped off or taken for a ride by such offers.

SHOUTcast DJ Switching
24 Jan 2012 | 8 Comments | posted by James M | in Product News
Cloud DJ has 2 exciting new features now available, the ability to switch to a live DJ from the Auto DJ mode without dropping listener connections is now possible! You connect just the same as connecting to any SHOUTcast server.
After weeks of testing and development, this feature is available to existing Cloud DJ customers at no extra cost and with immediate availability. Just enable the live feature in the new Cloud DJ App section to get started.
This brings additional benefits to most live/automated radio stations:
- Firstly, you can connect live and your listeners will hear a smooth crossfade between the automated and live content
- Cloud DJ never disconnects from SHOUTcast, so your listeners will stay connected!
- If your internet connection drops, Cloud DJ will simply resume playing its autodj content – no need to worry!
- When you want to stop broadcasting, again listeners will simply hear a fade back to the automated output.

The request widget works with a special request tag and as I’m sure you know shuffle mode completely ignores tags as the idea is to play a random track. In this post I want to show you a quick ‘hack’ to enable requests with shuffle mode.
